Colours - Important Information

Photoshop is the industry standard for producing full colour digital bitmap images. For the best results send us files as native Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat pdfs or jpegs. Ideally the file should be a minimum of 25% of finished size at 300 dpi. or of similar ratio ie  50% of finished size at 150 dpi and so forth. The file should be saved as RGB and any colour references should be supplied both as a pantone reference and as hard copy.  if in doubt send it and we will advise you.

Photoshop CS2

Illustrator CS2

Illustrator is an industry standard program used by most Designers for creating vector images. Vectors use a mathematical description to create a shape. The advantage of this is the image is fully scalable without loss of quality.

When sending illustrator files please ensure any fonts are converted to outlines, or alternatively send us the font also. As with Photoshop any colour references should be supplied both as a pantone reference and as hard copy

Flexi Sign Pro

RAL colours are a similar standard to Pantones but typically used to describe paint and powder coating finishes. If you are able to supply us with this reference, we can use our charts to ensure a close match with a pantone reference or for paint mixing

Pantone References

Flexisign Pro is the flagship product of the sign industry, we use this to control the machines that make the signs. It has the ability to read illustrator and eps files.

References

Pantone charts are references that enable consistent colour setup across a wide range of production equipment within signs and graphics. Pantones are premade (spot colours) however the printing process uses a mix of CMYK which is called process colour.  We use conversions charts that enable reproduction consistency of pantone references.

Fonts

Colour reproduction is a very complex subject but the key thing to remember is that just as you can adjust your television to show red as green so your monitor can show a different colour purely according to viewing conditions and settings. Likewise colour will vary slightly according to the material and printer that is used to produce the finished product

If colour match is important to you, please supply hard copy that we can match to. We can provide a sample for you to compare before outputting the finished product

There are literally hundreds of thousands of fonts available. Some are free of charge and some are chargeable. We can advise you on the suitability of a font according to its use.

If you have a specific font you wish to use, it can save a lot of design time if you can provide its name and origin, Fonts can also be copied from your computer system and sent to us where needed. a good source for fonts is http://www.myfonts.com/

We work with a number of software design programs including the latest version of the sign industry standard Flexi Sign Pro as well as Photoshop CS2, and of course Adobe Illustrator CS2.

We are happy to advise on the suitability of your artwork according to the type of sign or graphic you desire. If your artwork is not of the correct specification we have a full design team who are able recreate or convert it to the correct format. We will also archive your artwork free of charge for future work.
